Erling Haaland is a subject of interest from Liverpool, who join a host of other big-name clubs for the Norwegian forward’s signature next summer.
According to Transfer Market Web, Liverpool are keen on landing Erling Haaland next summer as Jurgen Klopp wants a top-notch centre-forward in his ranks. The Merseysiders have joined the queue to sign the Norwegian international who also interests plenty of other big-name clubs from across Europe.
It is only a matter of time before Erling Haaland leaves Borussia Dortmund for a bigger challenge at an elite club in Europe or England. The 21-year-old came close to leaving the Bundesliga giants in favour of joining Chelsea in a huge deal, potentially weighing £130 million after both clubs held talks at advanced levels.
Haaland reportedly has a release clause in his Dortmund deal which will be active next summer. Various sources suggest the clause could be between £68 million and £75 million, while some reports suggest it could be slightly higher than that. Either way, it will be significantly lower than the £150 million the Bundesliga outfit were demanding this summer.
While a move to Chelsea failed to materialise, the Blues signed Romelu Lukaku in a £98 million deal from Inter Milan, leaving the door open for other clubs to sign Haaland.
Liverpool are the latest club to register their interest, as the Reds are keen on signing the Norwegian next summer. Jurgen Klopp has plenty of forwards at his disposal, with Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Divock Origi, Roberto Firmino and Diogo Jota all key players in the side.
However, the Liverpool boss does not want to pass up the opportunity to sign the elite centre forward as he becomes available next summer. However, the 21-year-old will have significant competition when his release clause kicks in with rivals Manchester City and Real Madrid firm contenders for the striker’s signature.
While Liverpool remain an exciting destination for any player, Haaland was reportedly inclined towards moving to Spain. However, if the Reds can table an attractive contract proposal and deal with the demands of agent Mino Raiola, a move could become a possibility.
However, the likes of Manchester City will try hard to acquire him after a failed summer pursuing Harry Kane. Pep Guardiola would certainly urge his club to be frontrunners for Haaland and sign the accomplished forward who has scored 66 goals in as many games since joining Dortmund.
Elsewhere, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is a keen admirer of Haaland and is already planning the next Galacticos era at the club. After signing Eduardo Camavinga this summer, Perez also remains adamant about signing Kylian Mbappe next summer. Adding Haaland to the equation would please the president and his plans for the club, and a lavish transfer window from Real Madrid would not come as a surprise.
As for Liverpool, they have to dig their heels into convincing Haaland over a move to Anfield. However, the Norwegian forward and his agent’s financial demands could scupper the move for Liverpool, who might turn their heads towards alternative targets.
