Official: Lokomotiv Moscow sign Tino Anjorin on loan

Chelsea vs FC Noah: Preview and Prediction.

Lokomotiv Moscow have signed Tino Anjorin on a season-long loan deal from Chelsea while retaining the obligation to buy him next summer.

Lokomotiv Moscow have made an official statement to confirm that they have secured the services of Tino Anjorin on a season-long loan deal. The 19-year-old becomes the 21st Chelsea player to depart Stamford Bridge on a temporary switch this summer, with the Russian giants having the option to buy him outright in 2022.

Tino Anjorin has been with Chelsea since he joined the club’s famed academy as a seven-year-old back in 2008. Since then, he has come leaps and bounds and is widely regarded as one of the most promising young midfielders to have emanated from the youth setup at the west London club in recent years.

However, as is the case with most academy graduates, the opportunities have not been forthcoming for Anjorin since he made his debut for Chelsea back in 2019. In fact, the 19-year-old has turned out just five times for the Blues, racking up a grand total of just 153 minutes for the Premier League heavyweights.

With Mason Mount being the firm first-choice option for Thomas Tuchel and the Chelsea attacking unit being as stacked as it is, a loan move has seemed to be the most prudent option for Anjorin to continue his progress while also garnering some valuable first-team experience in a top league in Europe.

To that end, Lokomotiv Moscow had emerged in pursuit of the teenage prodigy, showing the desire to sign him on a season-long loan deal in the dying embers of the summer transfer window. And with the transfer window still open in Russia, the Parovozy have finally reached an agreement with Chelsea for the temporary transfer of the Englishman.

In addition, Lokomotiv Moscow also have the option to purchase Anjorin outright in next summer’s transfer window. As per widespread reports, this clause entails the Russian giants to sign Anjorin for a sum of £17 million, while Chelsea also have a buyback clause worth £34 million.

The fact that they have inserted a buyback clause suggests Chelsea expect big things from Anjorin in the years to come, having done so in the deals that Valentino Livramento join Southampton and Tammy Abraham join AS Roma. For now, the 19-year-old has become the 21st player to leave Chelsea temporarily this summer and it will be interesting to see if he can kick on in Russia.
