Transfer News: Real Madrid have €160 million Kylian Mbappe offer rejected

Real Madrid have had an offer for Kylian Mbappe, worth €160 million, being rebuffed by Paris Saint-Germain.

According to a report by reputed Spanish journalist Matteo Moretto, Real Madrid have received a setback in pursuit of Kylian Mbappe despite lodging an offer worth €160 million. Paris Saint-Germain have rejected the bid, with no further information on whether a new offer will be presented.

Kylian Mbappe has the world at his feet despite still being in his early twenties. At 22, the French international is already a World Cup winners while also having enjoyed a lot of success in domestic football in his nation, having first won the Ligue 1 title with AS Monaco before joining PSG in the summer of 2017.

To date, the youngster has amassed a fabulous tally of 133 goals and 63 assists in 174 appearances for the French giants. However, after having entered the final year of his contract with PSG, his future has been the subject of intense speculation this summer, with Real Madrid hot on his trails.

Real Madrid have been in pursuit of Mbappe ever since he first broke out at AS Monaco, with the Spanish heavyweights having their sights firmly set on him ever since then. This summer, they have sensed an opportunity to secure his services, as it could be PSG’s last chance to cash in on him, seeing as it has widely been reported that Mbappe will not renew terms with his current club.

As a result, it has been suggested that Real Madrid have been ready to make an offer for the French attacking powerhouse, with recent reports even claiming that PSG are open to the prospect of cashing in on their prized possession. And it now looks like the Merengues have tabled a €160 million bid for Mbappe.

However, Matteo Moretto has also added that PSG have rejected the offer, although it is not added whether Real Madrid will produce another bid. It will indeed be interesting to see whether Los Blancos formulate another offer for Mbappe, seeing as it was recently reported that their next bid will be their final one.

Mbappe could, in theory, be the long-term replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo that Real Madrid have been desperate to land ever since his departure three years ago. However, with PSG rejecting the €160 million bid, it remains to be seen if another offer is presented or if Real Madrid turn their attention towards an alternative.
