Real Madrid have reportedly been asked to stump up £60 million to secure the services of 27-year-old Spanish international Aymeric Laporte
According to a report by Daily Mail, Manchester City have named their price tag if they are part ways with Aymeric Laporte in the summer transfer window. The Premier League champions want to recoup £60 million for the 27-year-old Spanish international, who is the subject of interest from Real Madrid.
Aymeric Laporte joined Manchester City from Athletic Bilbao in January 2018 and has since made significant progress in his career. However, 2020/21 was a difficult season for the player, who was usurped in the pecking order for centre-backs by a resurgent John Stones, meaning he had to be content with sharing game-time.
To date, the 27-year-old has made 112 appearances for Manchester City, chipping in with nine goals and three assists in the process. However, things have reportedly reached a head for the Spanish international, who has an agreement with the Citizens that they will not stand in his way if they £60 million valuation is met. And Real Madrid are among the suitors for Laporte.
Real Madrid have made just one signing this summer in the form of David Alaba, who has, in turn, bolstered the Merengues’ defence. However, it is important to note that the Spanish giants have lost their two first-choice centre-backs this summer, with both Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane calling it quits at the club.
While Eder Militao is expected to step up and become a first-choice centre-back for good, there is very little quality beyond him, Alaba and Nacho. Therefore, it has been widely speculated that Real Madrid will enter the transfer market for a centre-back late on, with the likes of Pau Torres, David Luiz and Antonio Rudiger among those linked with them.
Laporte, too, is a viable target for Real Madrid, who can enjoy the best years of his career, with the Spanish international himself keen on returning to La Liga. And now, Real Madrid know how much they have to pay to land the 27-year-old, with Manchester City slapping a £60 million price tag on him.

Apart from Los Blancos, Juventus are also hot on the trails of the Manchester City defender, although it is unclear whether they have the means to pay £60 million for him. As for Real Madrid, with their focus being on Kylian Mbappe as well, it remains to be seen if they shell out the required sum to land Laporte or if he stays put at Manchester City.
