Transfer News: Real Madrid offered chance to sign Aurelien Tchouameni

Real Madrid have reportedly been offered the chance to sign 21-year-old French midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni, although they have declined to do so.

According to a report by Spanish publication AS, Real Madrid were offered the chance to sign Aurelien Tchouameni before the summer transfer window slams shut. However, the Spanish giants have rejected the opportunity to do so, as their sole focus is to sign Kylian Mbappe.

Aurelien Tchouameni joined AS Monaco from Bordeaux in January 2020 and has since made some significant progress in his career over the past 18 months. To date, the youngster has featured 50 times for the principality club, chipping in with four goals and as many assists along the way.

Widely regarded as one of the most promising young midfielders in France, the 21-year-old has been popping up on the radars of some of the biggest clubs in Europe. Some of his suitors include Chelsea and Manchester United while Real Madrid were offered the chance to sign him as well.

Real Madrid have been reported to be in the market for a midfielder this summer, as they look to lay down a succession plan for Luka Modric. At the same time, Toni Kroos is also on the wrong side of 30 whereas Casemiro is approaching the mark as well.

So, it is hardly surprising that the Merengues have been linked with a number of midfielders in recent times including Pape Matar Sarr, Paul Pogba and Marcelo Brozovic. And the latest player to be linked with Real Madrid is Tchouameni, who has actually been offered to the Spanish giants.

However, Real Madrid have no intention to make their move for the 21-year-old French midfielder, as their sole focus is to try and sign priority target Kylian Mbappe. It has recently been reported that Real Madrid have been preparing an offer to sign the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner.

Recent developments, though, point towards the possibility of Mbappe staying put at Paris Saint-Germain and if that proves to be the case, it might be a prudent move for Real Madrid to sign someone else, either in midfield or to bolster their attack. For now, though, Los Blancos have shown no inclination to sign Tchouameni.
