Everton are in talks with Lazio over a move for attacker Joaquin Correa with the Toffees set to table a €25 million bid for the Argentine.

According to journalist Rudy Galetti, Everton could immediately table a €25 million bid for Argentine attacker Joaquin Correa after holding talks with Lazio over a transfer. The Italian side are willing to sell their player if a reasonable offer arrives, and Everton could be a destination for the Copa America winner.

The transfer market is set for an explosive climax as clubs lineup late moves for desired players. As the money starts rolling in from big clubs, more transfers could conclude, although the time remaining in the market could prove crucial. However, some big moves are coming up and one of which involves Everton.

The Toffees are interested in signing an attacker to strengthen their roster. The necessity is dictated by the uncertain future of James Rodriguez, who seems disinterested in playing for Everton anymore since Carlo Ancelotti left the club. Their current target seems like Joaquin Correa from Lazio.

The Argentine attacker arrived late to the club’s pre-season preparations following his exploits at the Copa America. However, he came back with an uncertain future at Lazio, as the attacker angled a move away from the club. Maurizio Sarri was keen to integrate Correa into his side, although he looks resigned to lose him now.

Everton are only the latest in the line of admirers for Correa. The Argentine wanted a move to a big club like Barcelona or PSG, although no offers were forthcoming. The idea of seeking a new challenge could tempt him to join a club such as Everton who are not particularly a European powerhouse.

According to Rudy Galetti, the Premier League side have held talks with their Italian counterparts, although there’s plenty to agree on before a move could be finalised. It has been claimed that Correa could still be waiting on offers from big clubs, and this saga has all the hallmarks of a deadline day deal.

Everton are pushing despite knowing the 27-year-old’s desire is to play elsewhere. They are prepared to invest considerably to acquire him. The Toffees are reportedly prepared to offer €25 million, although Lazio would likely seek €30 million at least after lowering their initial €40 million asking price.

There were other interested clubs from the Premier League, such as Arsenal and Tottenham. However, with the Gunners completing a move for Martin Odegaard, Everton seems like the only side in the race now. Will Correa end up moving to Goodison Park remains a question yet to be answered.
