Manchester City are reportedly keeping a close eye on 21-year-old striker Kyle Hudlin, who plays for non-league side Solihull Moors.
According to a report from The Athletic, Manchester City are among a host of clusb in England that are closely tracking the progress of Solihull Moors striker Kyle Hudlin this summer.
Hudlin, who turned 21 earlier this year in June, signed for Solihull Moors from Solihull United in the summer last year, moving up from step seven of the non-league football pyramid in England. The centre-forward enjoyed a fine debut seasonn with the Moors, scoring ten goals in 36 matches across all competitions.
Standing at 6ft 9in, Hudlin is the tallest outfield professional player in all of Britain, as per the report. That, coupled with progress and goalscoring prowess, has put a number of clubs on alert. It is claimed that EFL Championship outfits Middlesbrough and Cardiff City have taken a keen interest in the 21-year-old, with Manchester City also now entering the fray.
The keenness from Manchester City comes as a major surprise, considering that they are usually shopping in the top tier of the market and are being persistently linked with a move for Tottenham Hotspur and England forward Harry Kane this summer.
However, Hudlin seems to have caught the eyes of Manchester City’s recruitment department. Having initially scouted the 21-year-old through videos, the reigning Premier League champions took their interest a step further by watching the towering striker live in action during Solihull Moors’ pre-season friendly against Notts County over the past weekend.
The report states that Manchester City are looking to add talented homegrown players to their ranks and accelerate their development by loaning them out, with Hudlin emerging as one such young player that the Mancunian outfit have taken a liking to.
However, with Manchester City’s interest in Hudlin now coming to light, it is expected that the race to sign the Englishman could heat up in the coming weeks. The 21-year-old striker is in the final year of his contract with Solihull Moors and it will certainly be interesting to see if he makes the jump from non-league football to top of the English football pyramid this summer by joining Manchester City.
