Real Madrid have reportedly demanded 26-year-old Italian international Alessio Romagnoli to be a part of the deal to sell Isco to AC Milan.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Real Madrid could be warming up to the idea of selling Isco to AC Milan in the summer transfer window. However, the Spanish giants want the Rossoneri’s captain Alessio Romagnoli to be a part of the deal if they are to send Isco to San Siro.
Isco arrived at Real Madrid widely regarded as one of the best young midfielders at the time. But, over the course of his stint with Los Blancos, the Spaniard has struggled to live up to the billing and has only been able to show flashes of brilliance, although he has also largely been used as a squad option than a regular.
The last couple of few seasons, in particular, have been extremely trying for the 29-year-old, who now appears set to leave Real Madrid this summer. One of the destinations mooted for him is Serie A, where AC Milan are intent on securing Isco’s services as they search for a replacement for Hakan Calhanoglu. And the Rossoneri have already submitted an offer worth €18 million to land him.
However, Real Madrid will not let Isco, who has also been linked with Arsenal lately, leave for such a sum and are now set to demand a part-exchange deal to let go of the Spanish midfielder. To that end, the Merengues will ask for Alessio Romagnoli to be included in the deal, with the 26-year-old Italian international already being heavily linked with a summer exit from San Siro.
Interestingly, Barcelona are one of Romagnoli’s suitors, albeit likely for a move next summer on a free transfer. As for Real Madrid, the AC Milan captain is surely a viable target in the wake of Raphael Varane’s move to Manchester United, which closely followed former captain Sergio Ramos’ departure.
With the versatile David Alaba being the only signing Real Madrid have made to date, it is definitely imperative that the Spanish giants scour the market for a centre-back. To that end, Real Madrid have been linked with Kalidou Koulibaly, with his fellow Serie A defender Romagnoli now on their radar.
Rated among the best defenders in Serie A, the 26-year-old Italian international is a viable target for Real Madrid and might be well-served by making his way to the Spanish capital, seeing as he had lost his place in the AC Milan defence to Fikayo Tomori in the second half of last season. What now remains to be seen is if the Rossoneri agree to a part-exchange deal, which will see Isco arrive at San Siro and Romagnoli join Real Madrid.
