Mancester United reportedly want to recoup £20 million to part ways with out-of-favour midfielder Andreas Pereira in the summer transfer window.

According to reputed Turkish journalist Ekrem Konur, Manchester United seem to have taken a definitive call on the future of Andreas Pereira. The Premier League heavyweights are intent on cashing in on the out-of-favour Brazilian midfielder, having slapped a £20 million price tag on him.

Andreas Pereira was once regarded as one of the brightest young players to have emanated out of the Manchester United academy. A gem of a playmaker at youth levels, the 25-year-old got his big break with the Red Devils back when Louis van Gaal was still in-charge of the first-team setup.

Fast forward over half a decade and Pereira’s progress has seemingly stagnated, having not really stepped up whenever he has featured for Manchester United. While the Brazilian international has shown flashes of brilliance and even enjoyed a couple of decent enough loan spells in La Liga, he has not shown enough for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to trust him week in week out.

That was part of the reason why Manchester United desperately sought to sign Bruno Fernandes last year. And with Donny van de Beek now a part of the first-team setup and not showing any inclination to call it quits at Old Trafford despite links with Barcelona and Real Madrid, there is seemingly no place for Pereira.

It is also important to mention that Jesse Lingard could be set to stay put at Manchester United after an impressive loan spell with West Ham United. While the Hammers and Everton have been linked with the Englishman, there have been suggestions that he could be a part of Solskjaer’s plans next season.

In fact, the Manchester United manager himself has given hints that the Red Devils might keep hold of Lingard. So, with all that in mind, there really is no place for Pereira in the first-team squad at the moment. Manchester United, though, will only let the out-of-favour midfielder leave on a permanent move and have slapped a £20 million price tag on him.

In fact, Lazio tried to snap him up on loan for a second successive summer only to be rebuffed by Manchester United in his pursuit. What now remains to be seen is if any suitor will be prepared to shell out the required £20 million to land the Brazilian midfielder or if Manchester United are forced to accept a loan deal for him.
