Real Madrid are reportedly ready to cash in on Marco Asensio this summer and would be willing to part ways with the Spaniard for a sum of €30 million.

According to a report from Spanish publication El Gol Digital, Real Madrid have decided to cut ties with Spanish winger Marco Asensio in the ongoing transfer window as they look to make cuts to their squad.

Asensio signed for Real Madrid from boyhood club Mallorca in the summer of 2015. After a season-long loan stint with Espanyol, the 25-year-old was slowly introduced into the first-team at the Santiago Bernabeu and within no time the winger became a big hit at the club, quickly becoming a regular in the starting XI.

However, a serious injury in the summer of 2019 halted his momentum big time as he spent a significant spell out on the sidelines. Since returning to action, Asensio has looked well below his best and endured a sub-par season last time out, managing a paltry tally of seven goals and two assists despite playing in 48 games across all competitions.

While there were flashes of brilliance every now and then, Asensio largely struggled to meet the performance levels expected of him, which also resulted in him missing out of the Spain squad for the UEFA Euro 2020. And, heading into the new season, the 25-year-old could now be staring at a potential exit from the Bernabeu.

Real Madrid, at the moment, have a problem of plenty on the right-wing, following the returns of Gareth Bale and Takefusa Kubo from their loan spells, to join the likes of Asensio, Rodrygo Goes and Lucas Vazquez. With there being no takers for Bale this summer, Los Blancos will be forced to keep hold of him while Vazquez has recently signed a new contract.

Considering their financial situation as well, a sale would be prudent this summer. And while it has been claimed that Rodrygo has been attracting interest from clubs in Spain and England, it seems like Real Madrid have decided to move Asensio out of the club because, as per the report, the club are of the belief that he might not be able to rediscover his best form after the impact of the injury.

Currently away on Olympics duty with Spain, there is also a feeling that his price will continue plummeting, which is why Real Madrid are now open to doing business for a fee of €30 million, with there being interest from Athletic Bilbao. Asensio, for his part, has insisted that he will not be going anywhere this summer. So, it remains to be seen how this story develops in the coming weeks.
