Transfer News: Manchester City agree personal terms with Jack Grealish

Manchester City have reportedly reached an agreement on personal terms with 25-year-old English international Jack Grealish over a move this summer.

According to a report by The Athletic, Manchester City have taken a big step towards securing the services of Jack Grealish in the summer transfer window. The Premier League champions have agreed personal terms with the 25-year-old English international, although Aston Villa are hopeful of keeping hold of him.

Jack Grealish was already regarded as one of the brightest players plying their trade in England much before Aston Villa returned to the Premier League. However, the way he has raised his game in the last couple of seasons has been nothing short of remarkable, with the Aston Villa captain leading by example more often than not.

To date, the 25-year-old has turned out 213 times for the Villans, chipping in with 32 goals and 43 assists. At the same time, Grealish has also become a full-fledged English international and was most recently involved in the Three Lions’ run to the UEFA Euro 2020 final. His exploits have also caught the attention of some of the biggest Premier League clubs and, in particular, Manchester City.

The interest from the defending Premier League champions is understandable, considering there have been rumours that Raheem Sterling could be offloaded. If that indeed proves to be the case, then Grealish can take up the slot that his fellow English international vacates in the Manchester City first-team setup.

Judging by his performances in the last couple of seasons, Grealish has the potential of not only replacing the goals scored by Sterling but also add a lot of creativity, which then takes a lot of burden off of Kevin De Bruyne’s shoulders. To that end, it has recently been suggested that Manchester City have been preparing a big-money offer for the 25-year-old.

The latest development points towards the Citizens going a step further in their pursuit of Grealish, who has agreed personal terms with the English giants. This is a crucial step for Manchester City, who are also hot on the trails of Harry Kane and are hoping to sign both the English internationals.

However, the report by The Athletic claims that despite agreeing personal terms, the likeliest outcome this summer is Grealish staying put at Villa Park, with Aston Villa even fancying their prospects of tying him down to a new deal. Having said that, it remains to be seen if Manchester City can do anything to convince Villa to part ways with their captain.
