Liverpool are reportedly ready to rival Tottenham Hotspur, Leeds United and others in pursuit of the €30 million rated Mikkel Damsgaard this summer.

According to La Repubblica, Tottenham Hotspur are set to face fresh competition from Liverpool in pursuit of Mikkel Damsgaard. The Sampdoria attacker has become a subject of interest from several clubs across Europe following his performances for Denmark at UEFA Euro 2020.

AC Milan and Juventus have also expressed their desire to sign Damsgaard this summer. However, Sampdoria president Massimo Ferrero is hoping to sell the winger to a Premier League outfit, as he believes English clubs can easily meet his €30 million demands.

In addition to Liverpool and Tottenham, Everton, Leeds United, and Leicester City are among the other English clubs interested in Damsgaard, who has become an overnight star for Denmark, thanks to his performances in Euro 2020.

The 21-year-old has had success at club football level as well, notching up 35 league appearances in his first season at Sampdoria in 2020/21. He was only involved in six goals, but the winger made quite an impression with his dynamism and set-piece prowess.

Tottenham have been interested in Damsgaard for a long time due to his potential. There is no secret that the Lilywhites are bracing themselves for a potential attacking overhaul as they prepare for life without Harry Kane, whereas Gareth Bale has returned to Real Madrid as well.

Damsgaard could be an ideal option to complement Giovani Lo Celso and Son Heung-min in the new-look Spurs attack. He can effortlessly slot in as a wing-back in Nuno Espirito Santo’s favoured 3-4-3 formation. However, Liverpool joining the race in pursuit of the Sampdoria forward does not bode all too well for Tottenham.

Much like the North London giants, the Reds are in the market for attacking reinforcements. One of the players emerging as a potential target for Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has been Jeremy Doku of Belgium.

It suggests a potential shift in the club’s transfer policy, as they look to bring in young faces rather than over-relying on the services of seasoned stars like Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino in attack.

As far as Damsgaard is concerned, it will be interesting to see how Leicester Cty, Leeds United and Everton come into play. All of these three clubs can offer the Dane more game-time than Tottenham or Liverpool and are financially capable enough to pull off the deal, potentially giving the Sampdoria starlet a dilemma.
