Real Madrid are reportedly keen on signing Elche youngster Javier Villar and have already submitted an offer for the midfielder, who has an €800,000 release clause.
According to a report from Spanish publication Defensa Central, La Liga giants Real Madrid have their sights firmly set on teenage midfield prospect Javier Villar, who plies his trade for the Elche Under-19 outfit.
Javier Villar is the brother of AS Roma midfield mainstay Gonzalo Villar, who has been linked with Barcelona and Atletico Madrid this summer. The 18-year-old youngster started out with the academy of Real Murcia and spent a brief time on the books of Barcelona before making the switch to Elche in the summer of 2019.
Villar is yet to make his first-team debut for Elche but is generally regarded as one of the most talented young players at the club, having stood out for their youth side on a regular basis this past season. And, it seems to have piqued the interest of one of the biggest clubs in the land, in Real Madrid.
The Merengues are set for a major summer overhaul at the first-team level but at the same time have been leaving no stone unturned in their bid to bolster the academy and reserve ranks. Real Madrid, to that end, have already brought in promising youngsters like Ruben Montero and Jose Maria Arevalo, while they are continuing to look at many other teenage prospects with great potential.
And now, Villar has now emerged as one such transfer target for Los Blancos. The report states that the young central midfielder is contracted with Elche till the summer of 2023 but has a release clause worth €800,000. And while the club would be reluctant to lose such a talented young player, their current financial situation could lead them to consider a sale.
Villar, for his part, is keen on playing for Real Madrid as well and is willing to force an exit, as he is aware that opportunities like these do not come too often. And it is claimed that the Spanish capital outfit has already submitted an offer to secure the services of the 18-year-old. But the bid made is lower than the €800,000 release clause figure. So it now remains to be seen if Elche accept it or demand the exit clause be met.
