Sevilla have emerged as a shock candidate to sign Manchester United starlet Daniel James, who faces an uncertain future at Old Trafford.

According to an exclusive report from Fichajes, Daniel James could be set for a loan move away from Manchester United in the summer, especially if the Premier League giants manage to secure the services of Jadon Sancho.

It has put Sevilla on red alert, with the Spanish outfit keen on acquiring the services of the young winger on a loan deal. The Sevilla camp, in fact, holds James in high regard, due to pace and dynamism, which they believe could do wonders at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.

Despite all his talents, though, James hasn’t had much success since arriving at Old Trafford in the summer of 2019. After a somewhat promising start to his Premier League career, the Welshman has completely fallen out of favour under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The 23-year-old has simply lacked the consistency in his game, although the rapid rise of Mason Greenwood has played a major role behind James’ equally rapid fall from grace. As a result, the winger has notched up just over 800 minutes of league football this term – a significant dip from the 2,291 he managed last season.

In addition to Greenwood’s breakthrough, Manchester United’s acquisition of Amad Diallo hasn’t helped James’ cause either. His situation could be made worse should the Red Devils manage to get their hands on top target Jadon Sancho in the summer.

Sevilla, though, are willing to hand the former Swansea attacker an opportunity to revive his career and showcase his potential at the highest level of football. It appears James has been identified as a potential alternative, or even a replacement for Lucas Ocampos, as the winger has indeed been linked with a switch to Liverpool, along with many other clubs in England.

The Welshman can also be considered as an ideal alternative to Suso and Papu Gomez, ultimately providing Julen Lopetegui with some added depth in the attacking department.

James, though, is not the only Manchester United starlet to be linked with a loan move away from Old Trafford, as both Brandon Williams and Axel Tuanzebe been tied with a similar fate this summer.

A switch to Sevilla, however, will undoubtedly be an interesting move and it will be interesting to see whether the 23-year-old does end up following the footsteps of fellow British footballers Jadon Sancho, Jude Bellingham and Chris Smalling by moving abroad to find success.
