Arsenal and Manchester United have reportedly set their sights on Bayer Leverkusen forward Moussa Diaby, who is valued at around £45 million.
According to a report by Caught Offside, Moussa Diaby is the subject of interest from Arsenal and Manchester United over a move in the summer transfer window. Bayer Leverkusen are set to demand a fee of at least £45 million to part ways with the French forward.
Diaby is currently in his second season with Bayer Leverkusen, having arrived from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2019. And, after an impressive maiden campaign at BayArena, the 21-year-old has kicked on this term, producing an impressive tally of 10 goals and 15 assists in 42 appearances across all competitions.
The youngster’s progress has certainly not gone unnoticed, and as his stock continues to rise, the French forward is capturing the attention of from some of the biggest clubs in Europe. At present, the interest is majorly stemming from the Premier League, with Arsenal and Manchester United keen on signing him.
Arsenal continue to be in a transitional state under the tutelage of Mikel Arteta, and with Willian failing to make any sort of impact since arriving from Chelsea, it is clear that the Gunners will need to bolster their wide areas for a second successive summer. Arsenal’s hand may be forced anyway, with Willian tipped to depart the Emirates this summer.
To that end, Josip Brekalo is one of the players linked with the north Londoners over a summer move, with Diaby a viable target as well, considering he can play on either flank equally adeptly. As for Manchester United, the 21-year-old Frenchman could be a cost-effective alternative for Jadon Sancho.
While the English international remains a priority for Manchester United, the fact that his price tag remains high means the Red Devils need to keep their options open in case they are unable to land the young winger. As a result, a number of wide forwards have been linked with Manchester United over a possible transfer, with Diaby an option worth considering.
Diaby, though, will still command a sizable transfer fee, with Bayer Leverusen looking to recoup at least £45 million from his sale. With that in mind, it will be interesting to see if either Arsenal or Manchester United press ahead with a move for the former PSG forward, or if they focus on other targets instead.
