Transfer News: Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United told to pay €25 million for Joachim Andersen

Olympique Lyon defender Joachim Andersen could be available for just €25 million this summer, amid interest from Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United.

According to Transfermarketweb, Joachim Andersen could be on the verge of permanent away from Olympique Lyon this summer. The Ligue 1 giants are ready to cash in on their prized defender, despite a largely successful loan spell at Fulham this season.

Although the Cottagers were one of the contenders to sign Andersen this summer, their relegation has knocked them out of the race. It leaves Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea as potential destinations, although the Premier League trio could face stiff competition from fellow league rivals Leicester City, Crystal Palace and Tottenham Hotspur.

Andersen’s desire was to remain at Craven Cottage, as he shares a good relationship with Scott Parker. He has already enjoyed a lot of success under the young manager, becoming one of the bright sparks in an otherwise dire campaign for the Cotaggers this season.

However, with Fulham being relegated alongside Sheffield United and West Brom, the Lyon defender has to choose between six possible options in summer, with the aforementioned trio of Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United particularly keen on his services.

The Red Devils are particularly desperate to sign a new centre-back in the summer, having been linked with a number of options including Sven Botman. The Lille youngster could even emerge as a cost-effective alternative for another top target in Raphael Varane.

Chelsea, too, are keen on securing a long-term replacement for Thiago Silva while the likes of Kurt Zouma and Fikayo Tomori are facing an uncertain future at the back.

The addition of someone like Andersen could go a long way in fixing Thomas Tuchel’s defensive problems, as his technical prowess and ability to offer those diagonal passes should tune in well with the German’s tactical philosophy.

Arsenal, on the other hand, make a strong case as well and can offer regular game-time for Andersen, as they look to move on from the likes of Rob Holding and David Luiz next season. The Dane can add that extra bit of quality in Arteta’s ranks, although a lot could depend on how the Gunners manage to offload their fringe players in the summer.

Overall, though, Andersen could be nothing less than a bargain given his price tag of just €25 million. He has already had massive success in the Premier League and should not find it difficult to settle into his new club in England.
