Transfer News: Bayern Munich offer three-year deal to Georginio Wijnaldum

Bayern Munich have reportedly tabled a three-year deal to Liverpool star Georginio Wijnaldum, with talks over personal terms ongoing.

According to Turkish journalist Ekrem Konur, Bayern Munich are currently in talks with Georginio Wijnaldum over a possible Bosman move in the summer transfer window. The Dutch international is expected to leave Liverpool as a free agent, with the Bundesliga champions offering him a three-year deal.

Wijnaldum has been one of the most vital cogs in Jurgen Klopp’s squad since joining Liverpool from Newcastle United in the summer of 2016. Such has been the 30-year-old’s impact that he is widely regarded as a modern-day great for the Reds, having gone on to amass 233 appearances for the club, even chipping in with 22 goals and 16 assists.

However, over the past year or so, it has become clear that Wijnaldum is searching for one last adventure in his career and is set to leave Liverpool as a free agent. While Barcelona seem to be his preferred destination, there are several other clubs vying for the signature of the Dutch midfielder – Bayern Munich being one of them.

The interest from Bayern Munich makes a great deal of sense considering Javi Martinez will be leaving the club at the end of the season while Corentin Tolisso is facing an uncertain future at the Allianz Arena. Therefore, it is not hard to see why the German heavyweights are keen on signing a player like Wijnaldum, who could bring a lot of experience to the table.

From the Liverpool superstar’s perspective, joining Bayern Munich would mean he will be making his way to a stable club that is one of the giants of European football. And, it appears as if Bayern are quite serious with their interest in the 30-year-old, having already begun discussions over a possible deal.

In fact, Bayern Munich have already offered Wijnaldum a three-year contract, with talks over his wages currently ongoing. With Barcelona also searching for alternate options for the Dutchman, it is likely that the German giants will have taken a lead in his pursuit.

What now remains to be seen is if Bayern Munich do indeed take a step closer to securing the services of Wijnaldum in the summer transfer window. For now, the experienced midfielder looks set to leave Liverpool after completing half-a-decade at Anfield.
