Transfer News: Mikel Oyarzabal on Real Madrid, Manchester United radar

Real Madrid and Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing Mikel Oyarzabal from Real Sociedad this coming summer.

According to a report by Spanish outlet El Gol Digital, Mikel Oyarzabal is starting to become a hot property heading into the summer transfer window. The 24-year-old Real Sociedad forward is the subject of interest from Real Madrid and Manchester United, with PSG also showing an interest.

Oyarzabal has been with Real Sociedad since 2011 and made his first-team debut for the Spanish outfit in 2015, aged 18. Since then, he has come leaps and bounds to establish himself as one of the best players on show in La Liga, and is also one of the captains for La Real.

Till date, Oyarzabal has made 236 appearances for Real Sociedad and has a solid return of 64 goals and 44 assists to show for his efforts. However, heading into the summer transfer window, there are some murmurings that he could perhaps, be on his way out of the La Liga club. And, keeping a keen eye on developments, are Real Madrid and Manchester United.

Real Madrid are set for a squad overhaul this summer as Zinedine Zidane looks to reshape an ageing squad, with several positions in need of reinforcements. Out wide, with Lucas Vazquez still facing an uncertain future, a spot could well open up, although the Spaniard has rejected an offer from Atletico Madrid recently.

Having said that, with Eden Hazard’s injury woes not dissipating, and the likes of Marco Asensio, Rodrygo Goes and Vinicius Jr. blowing hot and cold, it will be prudent for Real Madrid to sign a winger, making Oyarzabal a viable target. As for Manchester United, they could find a long-sought solution on the right wing in the form of the 24-year-old.

Manchester United are still in pursuit of Jadon Sancho, as they were last summer. However, this time around, the Red Devils seem to be keeping their options open, which is why they have been linked with the likes of Ousmane Dembele, Pedro Neto and others. And, Oyarzabal is an option worth considering as well, seeing as he is equally adept at playing on the right wing as he is on the left.

Apart from Real Madrid and Manchester United, PSG are also showing an interest in the Spanish international, while Barcelona have also been linked recently. With the race to sign the 24-year-old heating up, it will be interesting to see if he remains in La Liga or embarks on a new adventure outside Spain.
