Manchester United are reportedly ready to rival Chelsea in pursuit of Alex Sandro, who could be sold by Juventus this summer.
According to Tutto Juve, Juventus are ready to dispose of Alex Sandro in the upcoming summer transfer window. It appears the Bianconeri are keen on offloading the full-back for €25 million, though they will even be satisfied with just €20 million. It has put Chelsea on red alert, although they could face stiff competition from league rivals Manchester United while Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain are keen on securing his services.
Sandro is not the only Juventus player to be linked with a move away from Turin this summer, as the likes of Aaron Ramsey and Adrien Rabiot have been subjected to speculations as well, with the former reportedly eyeing a shock return to Arsenal.
While Ramsey and Rabiot have found it difficult to find their feet in Turin, Juventus have other reasons to offload Sandro, who was hailed as one of the best full-backs in Europe not more than just a few years ago.
The Brazilian has since endured a rapid fall from grace, especially in the ongoing campaign under Andrea Pirlo. He has struggled with injuries and has never really managed to rekindle his form, often failing to provide the consistency in his game.
Chelsea, though, have long been linked with Sando and their persisted interest is hardly surprising, as the Blues look to reshape their defensive unit under new coach Thomas Tuchel this summer.
The likes of Marcos Alonso and Emerson Palmieri are facing uncertain futures at Chelsea, with German tactician Tuchel favouring technically astute stars like Alex Sandro. It is also why the Blues have been linked with a move for another alternative in Alfonso Pedraza, although they could face stiff competition from Barcelona for the Spaniard.
As for Manchester United, their desire to sign a new left-back is slightly surprising, as they do have two quality options in Luke Shaw and Alex Telles. In fact, they have a third option as well, in the shape of Brandon Williams, although the youngster is being subjected to a potential loan move this summer.
Williams could be one of several players likely to leave Old Trafford, along with another ex-Manchester United academy product in Axel Tuanzebe. But, it appears unlikely that the Red Devils will lose any of their first choice left-backs in Shaw and Telles.
Juventus star Alex Sandro, therefore, is indeed a surprising choice, though for a fee of just €20 million, only a few clubs across Europe would want to pass up the opportunity to secure the services of Alex Sandro this summer. Nevertheless, it will be interesting to see who among Chelsea and Manchester United prevail in pursuit of the Brazilian.
