Real Madrid are reportedly keeping a close watch on the progress of Sevilla’s youth prospect Pablo Rivera ahead of the summer transfer window.

According to a report from Spanish publication Estadio Deportivo, Sevilla’s promising 16-year-old midfield prodigy, Pablo Rivera has popped up on the radars of reigning La Liga champions Real Madrid.

Rivera is a product of Sevilla’s youth setup, whom he joined from Altair CD and has been held in high regards throughout his developmental phase at the club. Currently, the midfielder is part of Los Nervionenses‘ Youth B team that plays in Juvenile National League. In fact, the team went on to finish first in the National League Group 14-A, with the teenager playing 18 games, in which he scored one goal.

Described as a midfielder with good technical abilities and tactical understanding, Rivera has been likened to veteran Barcelona superstar Sergio Busquets in the way he operates. The 16-year-old is also known for his strength and ability in air and the ability to win duels in the middle of the park.

Rivera’s progress has now seemingly alerted Real Madrid, who are considering the prospect of swooping him away and sign him up to their own youth ranks. Los Blancos in recent years have changed their recruitment strategy and have been trying to sign more youngsters with potential as has been seen with the transfers of Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo Goes, Reinier Jesus, Takefusa Kubo among others.

The upcoming summer seems to be no different either. While the links with the likes of Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe continue to rage on, Real Madrid are also looking to add to their youth squads and have shown interest in quite a few young players from within Spain and abroad.

Valencia’s Fabio Blanco is said to be very much on the club’s radar while there have been links to former Barcelona trainee Victor Munoz Villanueva, who Real Madrid are said to be close to signing. And Sevilla’s Rivera is the latest in line of such young talents with potential that the record European champions have set their sights on.

It now remains to be seen whether this interest leads into a formal approach for Rivera in the coming weeks or Real Madrid decide to wait for him to develop at Sevilla before making a move.
