Leicester City are keeping a close eye on Chelsea’s unsettled striker Tammy Abraham, with the Foxes angling for a potential summer swoop.

According to a transfer update from Fabrizio Romano, Leicester City have joined the chase to sign Tammy Abraham. The Chelsea forward has been identified as a potential option for the Premier League club in the upcoming transfer window and Brendon Rodgers’ men could be open to making a move for the player if the Blues do cash in on him this summer.

Abraham is not among the happiest of players in the Chelsea camp at the moment, as the forward has been constantly ignored by Thomas Tuchel this season.

It appears the German tactician is not fond of his pace-oriented style of play while some critics have also claimed that Abraham primarily tends to perform against less challenging opponents, with five of his 12 goals this season coming against Luton and Barnsley combined. It has ultimately led to Tuchel mostly relying on Kai Havertz, Timo Werner and, to an extent, Olivier Giroud, in front of goal since replacing Frank Lampard.

Abraham, as a result, has mustered just one 1,000 minutes of league football, which is quite surprising for a striker who had scored 15 goals in the league last term. Things get even more frustrating on the player’s part if we consider the struggles Werner has had since joining Stamford Bridge last summer.

Leicester City, however, are ready to welcome the 23-year-old with open arms as they prepare for life without Jamie Vardy. Although the talismanic striker has continued to perform for the Foxes, he is slowly nearing the final phase of his career and at the ripe old age of 34, the club certainly needs to make plans for the future.

Kelechi Iheanacho, despite his recent red-hot streak, has not offered the desired productivity in front of goal on a consistent basis during his time at the King Power Stadium. His work rate, however, could potentially combine well with a proper goal-poacher like Tammy Abraham, who is not only blessed with pace but also the ability to sniff goalscoring opportunities.

Chelsea. though, are likely to demand a fortune for Abraham given the forward’s record as well as the fact that they will have to offload their star player to a direct rival. They could ultimately use the opportunity to sell Abraham to fund a move for one of their own top targets, with Roman Abramovich already setting his sights on Erling Haaland this summer.

Either way, this promises to be an exciting transfer window for both Chelsea and Leicester City and it will be interesting to see how they go about their business, with the former hoping to restore their lost glory under Tuchel next season.
