Transfer News: Arsenal join Barcelona, Real Madrid in Bryan Gil pursuit

Arsenal are reportedly among the clubs interested in the services of Spanish whizkid Bryan Gil, who is also courted by FC Barcelona and Real Madrid.

An exclusive report from AS has shed some light on the future of Bryan Gil. The Sevilla winger has attracted interest from a host of top clubs across Europe, including FC Barcelona and Real Madrid while Arsenal are also keeping close tabs. The player’s current contract expires in 2023, with a release clause reportedly worth around €50 million.

Sevilla, though, are keen on securing Gil’s future at the club by extending his contract and including a new exit clause – somewhere in the region of €100 million to €150 million. They are already in talks with the player’s representatives over a new deal at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium, serving as a major blow for the likes of Arsenal, Barcelona and Real Madrid.

It only appears to be appropriate and well deserved following an excellent campaign that has seen Gil become one of the rising stars in Spanish football. He has already notched up 20 La Liga appearances for Eibar, where he is currently on loan from Sevilla, scoring three goals and registering two assists.

Although the 20-year-old’s tally this season might not exactly seem over the top, his overall contributions in front of goal have been far greater. For example, he is a phenomenal ball-carrier and has averaged 2.7 successful dribbles per 90 minutes so far as well as almost two key passes per game.

Most of Gil’s created chances have come from crosses which indicates that the Spaniard can operate out wide too. In fact, he can play on both flanks, in addition to his preferred number ten role, which is perhaps, why both Real Madrid and Barcelona have expressed a desire to acquire his services in the summer; the Spanish giants, though, have now been joined by Arsenal as well.

At Barcelona, Gil should slot in as an ideal replacement for Philippe Coutinho, who is widely expected to leave the Nou Camp in the summer. The Brazilian has been linked with a shock return to Premier League as well, with Arsenal coincidentally being one of his suitors.

Real Madrid, on the other hand, make a strong case for the Spanish whizkid as well, as Los Merengues prepare for life without Gareth Bale and Isco next season. The club has even valued Bale at around €30 million, with the Welshman currently plying his trade at Tottenham Hotspur on loan.

Exploring the Martin Odegaard transfer saga at Arsenal | THT Opinions

As for Arsenal, their interest in Gil likely might be stemming from Mikel Arteta’s desire to sign a new playmaker. The Gunners have prioritised a move for Martin Odegaard this summer, as they look to sign the Real Madrid star on a permanent deal, but his valuation might price them out of a deal.

Gil, in that regard, could turn out to be an excellent alternative for Odegaard and could prove to be an ideal replacement option for the Norwegian if he does not remain at Arsenal beyond this season. It creates an interesting cobweb of transfer stories and it will be equally intriguing to see how they all unfold in the upcoming summer transfer window.
