Manchester United are reportedly monitoring the progress of Tomas Soucek closely with the view of launching a possible summer move.

According to a report by Football Insider, Tomas Soucek is the subject of interest from Manchester United over a possible move in the summer transfer window. The Premier League heavyweights are keeping a close eye on the West Ham United midfielder and have been left impressed by his displays this season.

Soucek joined West Ham United from Slavia Prague last January. The Czech international initially arrived at the London Stadium on a loan deal till the end of last season but was quickly snapped up on a permanent transfer in a £15 million deal after making a quick impression.

The 25-year-old has started every single Premier League game for West Ham this season and is the club’s top scorer in the competition with 8 goals to his name. Soucek’s exploits have invariably been noticed by one of the biggest clubs in Europe, with Manchester United one of many Premier League clubs who have been closely monitoring him this term, as per the report.

Manchester United are enjoying a solid 2020/21 campaign and a lot of that is down to the solid base that the midfield provides in most games. Paul Pogba’s resurgence, in particular, has been a sight to behold for the Red Devils’ supporters, while Fred and Scott McTominay have become key figures for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

While Pogba was heavily linked with a possible summer exit, there have been suggestions that he could pen a new contract at Old Trafford, though his future still remains uncertain to some extent. With Nemanja Matic now on the wrong side of 30 and becoming an increasingly peripheral figure, it looks like Manchester United could enter the market for a central midfielder in the summer.

To that end, the Premier League heavyweights have been heavily linked with a move for Christoph Baumgartner, with Soucek now emerging as a viable target as well. The report claims that Manchester United are keeping tabs on the 25-year-old and have been hugely impressed by the impact he has created since joining West Ham last year.

Manchester United are pondering a potential summer swoop and it will be interesting to see if they do end up making a move for Soucek when the transfer window reopens. A player of his calibre is sure to be a top-notch addition and his goals from midfield could potentially be crucial if he does end up making the switch to Old Trafford.
