AC Milan have reportedly joined Manchester United in pursuit of Celtic goalkeeper Vincent Angelini, who is set to leave Celtic in the summer.

According to a report by Italian outlet Pianeta Milan, Manchester United are not alone in the race to sign Vincent Angelini in the summer transfer window. The Premier League heavyweights are facing stiff competition from AC Milan, who are also eyeing a free transfer for the 17-year-old goalkeeper.

Vincent Angelini is a member of the Cetlic youth academy and is currently a part of the club’s under-17 side. Widely regarded as one of the most promising young players in the Scottish giants’ youth setup, the up-and-coming goalkeeper is touted for a bright future, albeit not at Celtic.

Angelini will be out of contract at the end of the current season and has no desire to pen a renewal with Celtic. This has alerted a number of clubs across England and Italy, with one of the big-name suitors being Manchester United. The Red Devils, though, now also have AC Milan for company in the race to sign the young shot stopper.

Manchester United have constantly been on the lookout for promising young talents all across Europe and have heavily invested in their under-18 and under-23 sides. To that end, several goalkeeping prospects, including Matej Kovar, Radek Vitek and others.

Apart from the goalkeeping additions, the likes of Joe Hugill, Willy Kambwala, Alvaro Fernandez, Marc Jurado and Jack Kingdon have also made their way to Manchester United in recent times, showing their commitment to constantly produce some of the best youth products in England and beyond.

Angelini is, therefore, a viable target for Manchester United, who now face stiff competition from AC Milan in the race to sign the 17-year-old. The Rossoneri boast one of the best goalkeepers in the world in Gianluigi Donnarumma, but are currently in a precarious situation owing to the future of the Italian international.

Donnarumma is presently in the final few month of his deal with Milan and is no closer to signing a new contract, although the Serie A leaders fancy their chances of reaching an agreement over a renewal. If he does not commit his future to Milan, though, several suitors will be lurking, with Chelsea reportedly linked with a move.

In Angelini, Milan would not only have a solution for the future, but someone who could step up in case Donnarumma does not put pen to paper on a new deal. However, with Manchester United also keenly following him, it will be interesting to see which way Kingdon ends up swaying as far as his final decision is concerned.
