Manchester United are reportedly in negotiations with Spanish outfit Deportivo Alaves over a potential loan deal for summer signing Facundo Pellistri.

According to a report from Goal.com, Manchester United and Deportivo Alaves are locked in talks over the possibility of a loan move for Uruguayan winger Facundo Pellistri.

The 19-year-old, a product of Uruguayan outfit Penarol, arrived at Manchester United last summer in a €10 million deal. However, he is yet to make his senior debut for the Red Devils and has spent the first half of the campaign playing for the club’s Under-23 outfit, for whom he has a return of three goals and an assist from 8 games in all competitions.

Pellistri did make the bench for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side in a couple of matches in the UEFA Champions League towards the end of the last year but has not been handed his first-team bow yet. And, it seems like he may have to wait a bit longer for it as Manchester United are now ready to sanction a loan move for the teenager for the rest of the season.

As things stand, Pellistri finds himself behind the likes of Mason Greenwood, Marcus Rashford and Daniel James in the pecking order. Furthermore, the arrival of Amad Diallo from Atalanta earlier this month has further dampened his chances of breaking through into Solskjaer’s side.

The Manchester United coaching staff is said to be heavily impressed by the abilities showcased by Pellistri thus far. However, with first-team opportunities not forthcoming, Solskjaer & co. are keen for Pellistri to gain as much experience as possible at a higher level by sending him out on loan.

And as per the report, Spain could be where Pellistri ends up as Manchester United are in talks with La Liga side Alaves over a potential loan deal till the end of the season. The La Liga outfit faced competition from Belgian side Club Brugge for his signing, but it is said that the winger always preferred a move to Spain.

And after having held talks with Alaves about their plans for him and the role he will be playing, Pellistri is believed to be convinced about joining the Basque outfit on a temporary basis for the rest of the 2020/21 campaign.
