Arsenal are reportedly interested in making a move for SC Braga’s Brazilian winger Galeno as they look to bolster their attack in January.

According to a report from Todo Fichajes, Premier League giants Arsenal are eyeing a raid on Portuguese outfit SC Braga for the signing of 23-year-old winger Galeno in the upcoming January transfer window.

Galeno moved to Portugal from his homeland Brazil in 2016, linking up with the FC Porto B team. The attacker made just four senior appearances for the club and after loan stints away at Portimonense and Rio Ave, he moved to Braga in the summer last year.

Since joining the club, Galeno has made 59 appearances, scoring 13 goals and assisting 19 more. Having enjoyed a fairly decent debut campaign, the Brazilian has stepped up a notch in the ongoing campaign. One of the most in-form players in Portugal, he has produced a tally of six goals and eight assists in 18 games in all competitions.

Galeno’s form has put him on the radar of Arsenal, who have struggled for goals in the ongoing season. Indeed, the Gunners are one of the lowest-scoring outfits in the Premier League this term, with none of their attackers, be it Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Alexandre Lacazette, Nicolas Pepe, Willian or Eddie Nketiah, firing on all cylinders.

Willian, who was signed on a free transfer after his contract with Chelsea expired, has particularly been a huge disappointment. This has left Arsenal in search of reinforcements to strengthen their attacking unit next month in order to push away from the relegation zone.

Real Madrid star Vinicius Junior has been touted as a potential loan target for Arsenal. But, someone like Galeno could be a much more realistic option for the North London giants. It is claimed that the club has already made contact with the Brazilian winger’s club over a potential move in the January window.

Galeno has a contract with Braga that runs till the summer of 2024. However, the report claims that the Portuguese outfit are likely to demand a transfer fee of around €12 million for the 23-year-old. It remains to be seen if Arsenal do launch a move for him or explore other options come next month.
