Predicted Manchester United lineup against Everton: Greenwood in for Mata; Pogba benched again

Mason Greenwood is likely to replace Juan Mata while Paul Pogba could be benched again when Manchester United take on Everton on Saturday.

Manchester United will hope to keep their unbeaten away run going in the Premier League when they lock horns with Everton at Goodison Park on Saturday afternoon. And, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is set to welcome at least one player back ahead of his side’s latest fixture.

Alex Telles has resumed training after recovering from the coronavirus and is in contention to take on Everton. Solskjaer, though, is still sweating over the fitness of Victor Lindelof, who will likely face a late fitness test to determine his availability. As for those certain to miss out, Jesse Lingard and Eric Bailly remain unavailable for Manchester United.

Speaking to MUTV ahead of the Everton game, Solskjaer provided an update over the roster issues he is grappling with. The Manchester United manager said, “We’ve not lost any [players] from the Istanbul trip.”

“Alex has started training with us, which is good. Victor has still got the issue that he’s been struggling with. He’ll have to be checked tonight [Friday] in the hotel. It’s the same squad as before Istanbul really.”

With Lindelof’s fitness still a concern, Axel Tuanzebe could get a chance to impress, with the young defender making his first Premier League appearance of the season. Tuanzebe will partner up with captain Harry Maguire at the heart of the Manchester United defence, with Luke Shaw and Aaron Wan-Bissaka being the full-back pairing.

In goal, David de Gea is expected to return after being benched in favour of Dean Henderson earlier this week in the UEFA Champions League. Up ahead in midfield, Fred and Scott McTominay ought to be recalled to shore things up in the double pivot, with Nemanja Matic and Donny van de Beek making way.Manchester United

Paul Pogba, who has come under scrutiny lately, misses out once again and might feature off the bench. Bruno Fernandes will reprise the no. 10 role despite being well off his best against Istanbul Basaksehir earlier this week. However, Juan Mata will make way, with Mason Greenwood expected to return.

Greenwood will slot in on the right side of the Manchester United attack, with Marcus Rashford starting on the left flank. Anthony Martial, who scored the only goal of the Champions League tie, will lead the line against Everton, with Edinson Cavani once again being an option off the bench.
