Inter Milan are considering to re-open talks with Chelsea for Victor Moses after failing to sign Marcos Alonso on a loan deal.
According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Inter Milan are planning to enter into negotiations with Victor Moses, after Chelsea refused to loan out Marcos Alonso.
Alonso joined Chelsea from Fiorentina in the summer of 2016 and was an instant success at Stamford Bridge as the Blues romped to the Premier League title under Antonio Conte. However, in the seasons that have followed his maiden campaign with the West Londoners, the 28-year-old has had to share game time with Emerson Palmieri.
This term, Emerson seems to have usurped Alonso, featuring more times in the Premier League despite being sidelined for a number of weeks due to injury. Unsurprisingly, a drop in stature has given way to reports linking him with a move away from Chelsea. In particular, Serie A giants Inter Milan have been linked with the player.
Similarly, Victor Moses, too, has been linked with an exit from the club after failing to make it into Frank Lampard’s plans. The Englishman spoke about the player ahead of his cup fixture against Tottenham Hotspur, confirming that Moses is not part of the first-team squad and that he does not join them for training either.
The Nigerian spent the last six months of the previous out on loan at Inter Milan, finishing as the runners up for both, the Serie A and the UEFA Europa League. He played 12 games in the league, of which four were starts and registered three assists during that time.
Both Alonso and Moses were crucial parts of Antonio Conte’s Premier League-winning team, with the Spaniard making the cut into the PFA Team of the Year. And while Chelsea are open to letting Alonso leave, they want it to be on a permanent transfer and have blocked any negotiations that include a loan.
Inter signed Achraf Hakimi on loan this summer, but the Moroccon lacks an able deputy with Danilo D’Ambrosio and Ashley Young set to be used as the backups in that role. This is where Moses could come in – another player familiar with Conte’s system from the manager’s time with Chelsea.
Inter are in ditch territory here, with less than 48 hours remaining before the window calls curtains. It now remains to be seen if either move to Inter Milan can see the light of the day. For now, it is clear that Chelsea will only allow Alonso to leave on a permanent transfer, while Moses’ future remains in no man’s land.
