Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is set to ring in the changes when Manchester United face Luton Town in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday.

Following a dismal performance against Crystal Palace, Manchester United will be looking to make amends when they lock horns with Luton Town in the third round of the Carabao Cup on Tuesday.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer opted for a fairly strong lineup in the last match. However, the Norwegian, on Monday, has confirmed that he will making some changes to the squad this midweek.

“We’ll make some changes,” Solskjaer said on Monday at the Aon Training Complex before continuing, “Of course we will. For some, it’s the pre-season and, for some, they’ve only been here for a week now, for different reasons. Some of them need game-time, they do and we can see we’re lacking in sharpness. We just need to make the most of the training sessions and games we have.”

The Manchester United manager did confirm that he will be facing no fresh injuries, but Phil Jones and Axel Tuanzebe are likely to remain out while Chris Smalling is unlikely to be considered, having been linked with a move to AS Roman.

That leaves with Eric Bailly as the only other option at centre-back. He will replace Victor Lindelof and featuring alongside Harry Maguire, at the heart of the four-man backline. There will be a change in goal as well, with Dean Henderson poised to make his Manchester United debut, at the expense of David de Gea. Out wide, we will see the return of Luke Shaw and Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

Solskjaer is more than likely to reshuffle the pack in midfield, with Paul Pogba and Scott McTominay both making way for Fred and Nemanja Matic, who is keen for a strong performance this midweek as he looks to nail down a place in the starting lineup against Brighton & Hove Albion on the weekend.

New signing Donny van de Beek raised a lot of eyebrows by scoring on his debut against Crystal Palace. He is expected to make his first start for Manchester United this midweek, replacing Bruno Fernandes in the number ten role.

The Dutchman is likely to be partnered by the wide attackers in Mason Greenwood and Daniel James, who has recently been linked with a move to Leeds United. And finally, we can expect one last change in the number nine role, with Odion Ighalo coming in for Anthony Martial.

Probable Lineup (4-2-3-1): Henderson; Wan-Bissaka, Bailly, Maguire, Williams; Fred, Matic; Greenwood, van de Beek, James; Ighalo
