Manchester City are reportedly weighing up a potential move to sign former Barcelona star Adama Traore from Wolves with an €80 million offer.
According to a report by Italian outlet Calciomercato, Manchester City have their sights set on Adama Traore over a possible future move. The Premier League champions are lining up a big money offer for the Wolves star and are ready to shell out €80 million to sign the former Barcelona man.
Adama Traore was rated very highly during his days at La Masia. But, the 23-year-old could never make the grade in the club’s first-team setup and has played his senior career in England. Traore first joined Aston Villa before joining Middlesbrough one year later.
Traore, though, struggled to make an impact at both the clubs and joined Wolves in the summer of 2018. It is at the Midlands club that the Spaniard has finally found his footing, and after a decent debut season at the Molineux, he has become one of their most pivotal players this term.
Finally starting to back his potential and raw pace with end product, the former Barcelona star has enjoyed a fine season, with 5 goals and 7 assists in 30 appearances across all competitions. He has reserved his best for Manchester City so far, with three goals and 1 assist in two games against the Premier League champions.
Now, it looks as if Manchester City have been impressed enough to make a move for Traore. The Citizens have just two fit wingers available at present in Raheem Sterling and Riyad Mahrez. Bernardo Silva has also filled in out wide when required, but with Leroy Sane linked with Bayern Munich constantly, the need to sign a winger is urgent.
Mikel Oyarzabal is another winger who has been linked with Manchester City, but Traore also seems to be high on their priority list, as per the report. Calciomercato also claim that City are ready to back their interest with a concrete offer, with an €80 million bid being formulated.
What now remains to be seen is if Manchester City are indeed serious about their interest in Adama Traore. If so, it will be interesting to see if Wolves are willing to part ways with one of their best players, while their valuation of the player will also be worth noting.
