Chelsea superstar N’Golo Kante is uninterested in making a move to Real Madrid and has reaffirmed his commitment to the Blues.
In an interview with French outlet Telefoot, N’Golo Kante has poured cold water on rumours linking him with a move to Real Madrid. The French midfielder has pledged his future to Chelsea, even going to the extent of suggesting that he could retire at Stamford Bridge.
Kante has been one of the stalwarts for Chelsea in what has been an inconsistent period for the club in the last three years or so. One of the best midfielders in the world, the Frenchman has been a rock in the middle of the park for club and country, even playing a leading role in France’s 2018 World Cup triumph.
However, his exploits since arriving on the shores of England have piqued the interest of many-a-top club across Europe. And, Chelsea have been kept on their toes in recent times due to the fact that Real Madrid have reportedly had their sights set on Kante for quite some time now.
Real Madrid already have one of the best holding midfielders in the world in Casemiro, who is still going strong and has been a consistent performer this season. But, the interest from Los Blancos could perhaps, be stemming from Kante’s exceptional performances while deployed as an advanced midfielder for Chelsea.
With Luka Modric in the twilight stages of his glittering career, the time is soon arriving for Real Madrid to lay down a succession plan for the Croat. While Federico Valverde has impressed whenever he has been given an opportunity, there are very few options beyond him and Toni Kroos.
As a result, Kante is a viable target for Real Madrid to pursue. But, the 28-year-old has dismissed speculation linking him with a move to the Spanish capital, insisting that he is committed to Chelsea and could even end his career at the West London club.
Speaking to Telefoot, (h/t The Sun) Kante said, “Of course (I could finish my career at Chelsea), today I am with Chelsea until 2023. So, in my head, I hope to continue to have great seasons with Chelsea until 2023. Today at Chelsea, I have had three wonderful years winning titles. I think that it is a club that has helped me a lot and I hope that I will be able to win a lot more titles here.”
With his contract with Chelsea still having nearly four years left to run, the Blues were already in a strong position in their bid to hold on to Kante. But, with the player reaffirming his loyalty to the West Londoners, a move to Real Madrid appears to be an improbable event.
