Chelsea youngster Tammy Abraham is reportedly set to be rewarded with a new bumper contract, that would see him double his current wages.

As per a report from the Telegraph, Chelsea are preparing a new contract offer for academy graduate Tammy Abraham who has become a regular fixture in the first-team under new manager Frank Lampard in the ongoing season.

The 21-year-old Abraham has been tipped for a bright future since his time with the Chelsea youth sides. The striker made his first-team debut back in May 2016 in a 1-1 draw against Liverpool, but spent the next three seasons away on loan at Bristol City, Swansea City and Aston Villa.

While his time at Swansea wasn’t a huge success, Abraham shone bright at both Bristol City and Aston Villa. In fact, the 21-year-old played an integral role in Villa’s promotion to the Premier League, bagging 26 goals and setting up 3 more in 42 matches.

Following Lampard’s appointment as the Chelsea manager this summer, Abraham was integrated into the first-team. And while the youngster drew some criticism from a set of supporters after missing a penalty in the UEFA Super Cup defeat to Liverpool, he has shown signs that he can be counted on to become Chelsea’s first-choice striker.

Abraham struck a brace in Chelsea’s first competitive win under Lampard, as they defeated Norwich City 3-2 this past weekend. And the West London outfit are now hoping to tie down the 21-year-old’s long-term future with the club, by offering him a new and improved contract.

Abraham’s existing £50,000-a-week contract runs till the summer of 2022. And as per the report from Telegraph, the club are set to offer him a double-your-wage deal that would see him pocket £100,000 per week including bonuses. The length of the contract will be for five years, meaning the England international will be extending his stay at the club till 2024.

The report further adds that Abraham’s contract is close to being signed off. Chelsea have already tied down academy graduates Mason Mount and Ruben Loftus-Cheek to new long-term deals and are also working towards getting Callum Hudson-Odoi and Fikayo Tomori to pen new contracts, along with Abraham which bodes very well for the club.
