Transfer News: Gareth Bale enraged as Real Madrid abort Chinese Super League move

Real Madrid superstar Gareth Bale has reportedly been left fuming, with Los Blancos pulling the plug on his mega money move to China.

According to a report by The Sun, Real Madrid have ditched the idea of letting Gareth Bale leave the club on a free transfer. The Welsh international was set to join Chinese Super League club Jiangsu Suning on a £1 million-a-week deal, but has now been left enraged and in a limbo.

Gareth Bale has endured a spectacular fall from grace in the last couple of years , the breathtaking UEFA Champions League final goal against Liverpool notwithstanding. In Zinedine Zidane’s two reigns, including the current one, the 30-year-old has gradually become a peripheral figure, while under the tutelage of Julen Lopetegui and Santiago Solari, poor form and injuries were the culprits.

This summer, it has become plainly clear that Bale does not have a future with Real Madrid, with Zidane desperate to offload him. There had even been suggestions that Real Madrid were ready to terminate the player’s deal for him to seal a move to China. But, complications have arisen now.

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez, who was previously open to the idea of letting Bale leave on a free transfer, has made a spectacular U-turn. Jiangsu Suning were speculated to be the Welsh forward’s next destination, with the Chinese Super League club, like rivals Beijing Guoan, willing to offer him a staggering £1 million per week contract, as per reports.

This deal was set to be made possible due to the fact that Bale’s contract with Real Madrid was set to be written off. But, with Perez now pulling the plug on such an idea, the move is in jeopardy, and as a result, both Bale and Zidane have been left enraged.

While the reasoning for such a move has not been divulged, The Sun are mooting that it could be a way to smoke out any major interest in the player from European outfits. It is also unclear if this has been done due to the fact that Marco Asensio is set to miss large parts of the upcoming season, if not all of it, due to a long-term injury.

For now, all that remains clear is that Real Madrid will not let Gareth Bale depart on a free transfer and with Zinedine Zidane keen to get him off the club’s books, something needs to give. It now remains to be seen if the Welshman still ends up calling it quits at the Bernabeu, or if he ends up miraculously staying at the club.
