Arsenal have reportedly returned with an improved offer worth £25 million for Kieran Tierney, who is being tipped to leave Celtic in the current transfer window.

The Daily Mail claim Arsenal have improved their offer for Celtic star Kieran Tierney. The Gunners have lodged a bid worth £25 million in hopes of getting their man. Celtic are yet to respond to the offer, which is around the reported valuation of the Scottish international that Celtic had quoted earlier.

After Arsenal’s initial bid of £15 million was swiftly rejected by Celtic, Kieran Tierney was also being linked with Napoli. While the Serie A giants are yet to cash in on Mario Rui to fund their Tierney chase, the interest might be the reason of Arsenal quickening up their pursuit of the Scottish international and lodging in an improved bid.

The improved offer is a statement of intent from Arsenal, with the Gunners willing to spend a good chunk of their budget on Tierney, perhaps highlighting that the club have prioritised the Celtic star’s signature. The left side of the defence though, is likely to be crowded with quality options for Arsenal, if Tierney does come in.

Nacho Monreal is likely to stay put, with the Barcelona rumours going cold. There has been no reports of interest in Sead Kolasinac, which means Unai Emery could have three options for the left side, unless the manager plans to use Monreal in central defence, like last season.

The Arsenal board though, will have budget issues to sort out, if they do end up signing Tierney. Unai Emery needs a new second-choice goalkeeper, a central defender, a midfielder and winger(s) in the current transfer window and not much budget to spend, after setting aside the funds for Tierney.

Arsenal will need to offload more players that will not likely form a part of the regular first-team setup under Unai Emery, with Mesut Ozil and Henrikh Mkhitaryan likely to be in the firing line. But, their wages might be an issue that holds up their potential exit.

Regardless, Arsenal fans will finally be happy on some progress towards making their second signing of the season after the Gunners confirmed the capture of Gabriel Martinelli.
