Ajax sensation Donny van de Beek wants to join Manchester United or Tottenham this summer, as per Dutch football expert Marcel van der Kraan.

In an interview with talkSPORT, Marcel van der Kraan has claimed that Donny van de Beek has his heart set on making his way to the Premier League. The Dutch football expert was even specific with the possible destinations, iterating that Manchester United or Tottenham could sign him in the summer transfer window.

Ajax nearly did the unthinkable this past season as they won the Dutch domestic double while also reaching the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League. What was even more captivating about their run was the fact that Erik ten Hag’s unheralded side beat Real Madrid and Juventus en route to the Last Four.

But, much like AS Monaco a couple of years ago, there are fears that the exciting young side could be dismantled, with several stars possibly joining Frenkie de Jong on their way out of the club. One of the players who has been rumoured to be attracting plenty of suitors is Donny van de Beek, with Tottenham and Manchester United among those that have been linked.

The 22-year-old was on a roll in the season gone by, making 54 appearances in all competitions. While that figure is remarkable in itself, he also had 16 goals and 12 assists to boot. And, amid talks of a possible summer move, Marcel van der Kraan has stoked the fire by saying that Manchester United and Tottenham are the favourites in his pursuit.

Speaking to talkSPORT, the Dutch football expert said, “Donny van de Beek has his eyes set on the Premier League. I think he’s a proper Premier League player – he’s got a big tank, he’s got the education from Ajax, he can play in more positions in midfield.”

“I think he’s got his eyes set on a club like Manchester United or Tottenham Hotspur. I’ve been talking to his agent, and he said if that would materialise it would be something right up his street.”

A move to Manchester United could make sense for van de Beek, especially at a time when Paul Pogba is facing an uncertain future at Old Trafford. The Frenchman has been linked with Real Madrid and Juventus lately and in the case of a possible departure, the Dutchman could be a top class replacement.

While the Ajax sensation could easily slot in at the tip of a midfield diamond, he could even be a possible replacement for Ander Herrera, thanks to his tenacity in the middle of the park. While Manchester United have only had fleeting mentions, Tottenham have been linked more heavily.

Christian Eriksen could depart from the North London club in the summer transfer window following comments that he is ready for a new challenge. And, should the Dane end up leaving, Tottenham would need a replacement, which explains the interest in van de Beek.

The comments from van der Kraan would certainly come as a boost for Manchester United and Tottenham. It now remains to be seen if the two Premier League clubs do launch the offensive for the Ajax sensation this summer, and if so, where he heads off to.
