Arsenal are reportedly interested in Fedor Chalov and are ready to battle other European clubs in pursuit of the CSKA Moscow forward.

According to Sky Sports, Arsenal have entered the race for Fedor Chalov. The young CSKA Moscow striker has earned plaudits for his performances in the 2018-19 season, ending the season as the top scorer in the Russian Premier League and is also being tailed by the likes of AS Monaco and Sevilla.

Arsenal fans might remember Fedor Chalov from their 2017-18 tie against CSKA Moscow in the UEFA Europa League. Chalov scored in the second leg of their quarter-final tie, which Arsenal won on aggregate.

Fedor Chalov is quickly gaining recognition in Europe as a prolific finisher. The striker was already a part of the CSKA Moscow first-team setup since the 2016-17 season. But, the 2018-19 campaign saw him finish the season as the top scorer of the league, with a total of 15 goals and 7 assists in 30 appearances.

An average of one goal every other game and an astonishing 47% contribution in CSKA Moscow’s goals, the 21-year-old is rightly drawing attention from the big leagues of Europe, with Arsenal, Sevilla and AS Monaco all eyeing up a move.

Sevilla might be looking at Chalov as a potential replacement for Andre Silva, who is set to return to AC Milan upon the expiry of his loan spell. AS Monaco have a summer rebuild on their hands after barely managing to avoid relegation and in turn, fail to qualify for Europe. Radamel Falcao is ageing while Stevan Jovetic could be looking to seal a move in search of European football.

Arsenal are set for another tight summer, with Unai Emery handed a restricted transfer budget due to the club’s failure to qualify for the Champions League. Emery has to use the funds to replace the departures within the squad while looking to reinforce in areas that need attention.

But, one potential area that might require attention is upfront. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has reportedly been offered a mega deal to move to the Chinese Super League and Arsenal could be tempted to cash in on the Gabonese forward in order to use the funds to strengthen the squad.

Even if Aubameyang stays, Arsenal need a third striker and have been linked with a few names recently. After a strong season under his belt and having earned his senior cap for Russia, Chalov might feel it is the right time to venture into the European big leagues.

A move for Chalov beckons, be it to Arsenal, Sevilla, Monaco or some other club.
