Transfer News: Real Madrid banking on Mino Raiola to land Paul Pogba

Real Madrid are reportedly banking on Mino Raiola to land Manchester United superstar Paul Pogba in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by Spanish publication MARCA, Real Madrid are set to switch their attention towards completing the deal to sign Paul Pogba in the summer transfer window. The Manchester United superstar is open to the idea of making the switch to the Bernabeu, with Los Blancos counting on Mino Raiola to facilitate the transfer.

Real Madrid have had a season to forget thus far, with even the return of Zinedine Zidane not sending them on a resurgent run of successive wins. And so, it is hardly surprising that the Spanish heavyweights are reportedly set to be involved in a number of transfer sagas that could end with a squad revamp in the summer transfer window.

One such saga-to-be involves Manchester United talisman Paul Pogba. The Frenchman has been much improved under the tutelage of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, having previously clashed with Jose Mourinho. In fact, the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner is enjoying his most prolific campaign to date, with 14 goals and 11 assists to boot.

While his fantastic performances are enough to entice clubs to be keen on signing him, Pogba has piqued the interest of Real Madrid ever since he admitted that it would be a dream come true to play for the La Liga giants. And, Los Blancos could indeed do with a player of the Manchester United superstar’s calibre.

Lack of creativity and goals have been the two biggest problems for Real Madrid this season. While Karim Benzema is the only player who has managed to be anywhere near productive enough in front of goal, the struggles of Luka Modric and Toni Kroos have meant the chances have not flown regularly this term.

To that end, Pogba is a player who could potentially solve two problems at once, with the player in among the goals on a consistent basis while also being the creator-in-chief for Manchester Untied. And, the Red Devils are prepared to offer the 26-year-old improved terms to rebuff interest from Real Madrid.

However, as per widespread reports, Pogba will only remain at Old Trafford if he is made the club’s highest paid player. While that might not be a problem for United, Real Madrid are hoping to use the waiting period to get in touch with Mino Raiola to convince the French midfielder to part ways with the Premier League heavyweights.

Any move for Pogba would cost at least €120 million, which is the furthest Real Madrid are willing to go in order to land their target, as per the report. Manchester United though, are unwilling to sell their star man for any amount, especially with Ander Herrera already being heavily linked with a summer exit.

In the end, Pogba’s future will largely depend on Raiola’s influence on him and where the super agent see his future. It now remains to be seen if it is at Real Madrid or Manchester United.
