Wolves legend Steve Bull has urged Nuno Espirito Santo to snub any interest from Chelsea and stay at the Molineux to continue his brilliant work at the club.
After six years away from the Premier League, Wolves have come back into the top tier and performed somewhat unexpectedly. Their manager, Nuno Espirito Santo is at the center of this progress, which has resulted in him attracting substantial interest from Chelsea. And a report in The Mirror quotes Wolves legend Steve Bull urging the Wolves boss to snub any advances from the Blues.
Wolves are having a fairytale season in the Premier League after spending six years away from the top tier. After winning the Championship title last season, Nuno Espirito Santo has guided the club expertly in their first season in the Premier League. Wolves currently sit in the eighth spot and are very much in contention to reach the FA Cup Final, a competition they have won four times before.
Santo has attracted the interest of Chelsea due to his brilliant guidance of Wolves, as the Blues are reportedly considering sacking current boss Maurizio Sarri at the end of the season. The Italian manager has endured a difficult season at Stamford Bridge and knowing Chelsea, they would probably sack someone they do not feel their confidence in.
But Wolves legend, Steve Bull, who scored 306 goals for the club between 1986 to 1999, has urged Santo to not even consider the idea of leaving the club for someone like Chelsea.
Bull commented, “If I was him, I wouldn’t leave. I wouldn’t be silly enough to even think about it. Wolves are a very big club, and they are going places. Anybody above in the top five or four aren’t necessarily bigger than Wolves. Why? Because Wolves are going to be there one day. Nuno may as well build a legacy. He has the fans behind him and is doing it in all the right ways.”
Bull’s comments do reflect on their ambition as Wolves have shown with their performances this season. Additionally, the investments on signings they have made before this season have also been instrumental to their success. The recent £30 million permanent signing of Raul Jimenez is a glimpse into the club’s future and how they will work in the transfer market.
Wolves have been linked with some high-profile players in the coming window as well. Joao Felix from Benfica is one of those highly-coveted players they are reported to be interested in. There will be other targets as well, all of which points to Wolves making a statement for next season.
As for their boss, Nuno, it could be an excellent opportunity to further his career at a club like Chelsea if the Blues are actually interested. But, looking at his work at Wolves and the ambition the club has shown, Bull might be right in suggesting he stays at Molineux. If he is to continue his excellent work, there is no doubt a club of Chelsea’s stature could come back again in the future.
