Arsenal are reportedly plotting a bargain €15 million move for Eibar midfielder Joan Jordan as a cut-price replacement for Aaron Ramsey.

Spanish publication Marca have reported that Arsenal are already laying down plans to use their budget wisely in the summer transfer window. Replacing the outbound Aaron Ramsey is top on their agenda and the Gunners have earmarked Eibar midfielder Joan Jordan as a bargain replacement for the Welshman.

The report iterates that Joan Jordan has a release clause of €15 million and according to Marca, Eibar are prepared to cash in on the 24-year-old. The midfielder’s contract will have just one year left in the summer and will be eligible to negotiate with foreign clubs from January, 2020, thus prompting Eibar to be willing to sell him for a price in the summer itself.

Joan Jordan has had a decent La Liga campaign so far for Eibar, who are currently 11th in the league. The 24-year-old might have recorded just 3 goals and 4 assists but has impressed with his ability to distribute the ball, vision and shooting technique. There is likely to be no dearth of interest, which is probably why Arsenal are looking to turn their own interest into something concrete.

Unai Emery may have a lot of options in central midfield at the present time. Granit Xhaka, Matteo Guendouzi and Lucas Torreira have all proven their pedigree to perform and the manager has provided opportunities to other budding stars in other competitions.

But, the main contention point is finding a worthy replacement for Aaron Ramsey. The Welshman has agreed to join Juventus in the summer, but his influence on Arsenal’s current campaign – 3 goals and 6 assists in 1146 minutes of Premier League football – is proof that he needs to be replaced adequately.

One of the main constraints will be the budgetary restrictions that the Arsenal board have forced so far on Unai Emery. If it continues, Emery might go for cheap and value-for-money additions to their roster, which is where Joan Jordan comes in.

The 24-year-old has proven himself in the Spanish top-flight and could be just the man to replace Ramsey, with the Eibar star having the experience of playing in an advanced role in midfield as well.

Jordan is only 24 and can still provide years of quality service to Arsenal. If it all pans out accordingly, this could be €15 million well spent by the thrifty Gunners.
