Zinedine Zidane reportedly wants to bring PSG’s world-class forward Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid in a massive €280 million deal this summer.
As per a report by France Football, Zinedine Zidane has identified Kylian Mbappe as his top target for the summer transfer window. In order to sign the PSG superstar, Real Madrid are willing to shell out an initial €280 million out of a €400 million transfer kitty.
Kylian Mbappe has left many bewildered since breaking onto the scene with AS Monaco in the 2016-17 season. Since then, he has made stunning progress to establish himself as one of the best players in the world while still very much in his developmental years.
His record this season is remarkable to say the least, with Mbappe boasting a tally of 31 goals and 15 assists in 35 appearances across all competitions. And so, it goes without saying that the world-class forward could improve just about every team in the world. One such team is Real Madrid, who are keen on signing the 20-year-old.
Zinedine Zidane, who was reappointed as the Real Madrid manager earlier this month, has set about overhauling the squad he has found at his disposal, with Eder Militao already the first player who is set to arrive at the Bernabeu in the summer transfer window.
Attack is understandably a priority for Zidane as well, with Los Blancos failing to adequately replace Cristiano Ronaldo last summer. Those are a lot of goals to replace – goals that only a select few around Europe can bring to the table on their own. One such player is Mbappe.
The 2018 World Cup winner has already shown that he can be one of the most prolific players in Europe, with Lionel Messi the only player in the top five leagues to have netted more goals than him this term. Thus, it is hardly surprising that Real Madrid are set to prioritise a move for the French forward.
The club board is under no illusions about the player’s valuation either, with a bid worth €280 million being lined up to convince PSG to part ways with their star man. Real Madrid are also hoping to use Zidane’s French connection to lure Mbappe to make his way to the Bernabeu in the summer.
But, considering his stature, not just at Parc des Princes but also in world football, it will not be a huge surprise if even €280 million is enough for PSG to part ways with Kylian Mbappe. It now remains to be seen if Zinedine Zidane gets his top target in the summer, or if he remains in the French capital.
