Transfer Rumour: PSG set to rival Manchester United in Jadon Sancho pursuit

Manchester United and PSG are reportedly ready to launch their respective bids worth £70 million to land Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho.

As per a report by The Sun, PSG have joined Manchester United in the race to sign Jadon Sancho in the summer transfer window. The Ligue 1 champions, like United, have established contact with the English international’s representatives, but Borussia Dortmund are unwilling to part ways with their breakout star.

Jadon Sancho has taken Europe by storm since joining Borussia Dortmund from Manchester City in the summer of 2017. So much so, that he has gone on to become an indispensable figure for the Bundesliga outfit in a season wherein he currently boasts a splendid return of 9 goals and 17 assists in 35 appearances across all competitions.

His exploits for Dortmund also helped the teenage sensation to break into the English national side last year, and he has subsequently gone on to make his first international start this week. Unsurprisingly, interest from clubs has been surfacing over the last few months, with Manchester United believed to be the most prominent among the suitors.

The Premier League heavyweights have long been in search of a player who could provide creativity, width and a pacy outlet on the right flank. And, in Sancho, Manchester United could have the perfect solution for such a need, with the player being one of the most creatively proficient stars in Europe. To that end, the Red Devils are reportedly set to prioritise his transfer.

But, United are no longer alone in the chase for the 18-year-old, with PSG also keen on snapping him up in the summer transfer window. The French champions have one of the most fearsome attacking forces in all of Europe, but have also struggled when one or more of their first-choice trio of Neymar, Kylian Mbappe and Edinson Cavani has been unavailable.

To add to their concerns, Mbappe is being widely linked with a possible move to Real Madrid. Should the French superstar leave, PSG would need someone to fill the void left by him, making Sancho a viable target. And so, Les Parisiens, like Manchester United, are now in touch with the teenager’s entourage.

As per the report, both the clubs are also ready to part with £70 million to secure his services. But, PSG and Manchester United will have to step up in order to persuade Borussia Dortmund to sell, with club director Michael Zorc recently insisting that they will not let Sancho depart in the summer.

Jadon Sancho has the world at his feet at the nascent age of 18, with clubs showing an interest in him and pundits all praises for his talent. It now remains to be seen if either PSG or Manchester United are able to secure his services, or if stays put at Borussia Dortmund.
