Manchester United have reportedly stepped up their interest in Crystal Palace star Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who is valued at £40 million.

According to The Sun, Manchester United have stepped up their interest in Aaron Wan-Bissaka. The Crystal Palace breakout star has been courted by several top Premier League clubs and prominent European outfits as well. But, it seems the Red Devils are looking to steal a march on the other suitors.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s rise has been tremendous and rather important for Crystal Palace’s fortunes. The Eagles had Joel Ward and Martin Kelly for the right-back slot. But, Wan-Bissaka’s entry into the picture has changed the landscape.

The academy ace broke into the first-team setup in 2018 but the 2018-19 campaign has seen him not just make the right-back slot his own at Selhurst Park but be included in the talk of the best right-backs in the Premier League. 21 and into his first full-season in the Premier League, the player has been courting interest from Manchester United and other top clubs.

The Red Devils do have a bit of a problem brewing at right-back. According to reports, Antonio Valencia, who has been the first-choice right-back for Manchester United for a while, is set to leave the club in the summer. Ashley Young has done well but has been found out in certain games.

Diogo Dalot is earmarked to be a contender but still needs time to adapt to the surroundings of English football. Thus, the need for a right-back is pretty apparent at Old Trafford. With Ole Gunnar Solskjaer tipped to be handed the permanent job, the focus will now shift towards preparing for the summer transfer window, as far as the top hierarchy is concerned.

One of the priority areas of reinforcement will be the right-back position and it seems United have locked in on their choice. Wan-Bissaka is young and has just had his breakout campaign. The 21-year-old has been scouted a ‘dozen’ times according to the quotes in The Sun’s report, which also states that United are preparing an offer for the Crystal Palace star for when the summer transfer window opens.

The youngster is valued at £40 million by Crystal Palace, according to the report and it will be interesting to see whether Manchester United are able to steal a march on other suitors, which are increasing in number with each assured performance from the 21-year-old.
