A ‘furious’ Isco reportedly wants to leave Real Madrid in favour of joining Premier League champions Manchester City in the summer transfer window

According to a report by Italian outlet Calciomercato, Isco has taken a call on his future, having grown frustrated with his reduced role under Santiago Solari. The Spaniard is determined to leave Real Madrid after being left out of the squad to face Ajax in the UEFA Champions League, and is now keen on joining Manchester City.

Isco has endured quite a frustrating time ever since Santiago Solari took charge of Real Madrid following the dismissal of Julen Lopetegui as the first-team boss. Over the last four months, the 26-year-old has started a mere 3 games across all competitions, with appearances off the bench coming few and far between as well.

The latest blow came in the form of his omission from the matchday squad to face Ajax in the UEFA Champions League, with Real Madrid unceremoniously booted out of the competition. Solari’s decision to snub him though, has left Isco ‘enraged’ as per the report, and he has made the decision to leave the club in the summer transfer window.

The plundering of his stock at Real Madrid has done nothing to affect the player’s stock in the transfer market, with the likes of Liverpool and Manchester United being linked with him lately. Isco, however, is keen on making his way to Manchester City.

The Premier League champions have been previously linked with the Spanish international on a number of occasions. And, he could be just what Pep Guardiola needs, with the Manchester City boss being unable to start phasing David Silva out this season due to Kevin de Bruyne’s injury troubles.

But, Silva’s reduction in role should ideally begin next season, something Guardiola has alluded towards previously, and Isco, with his qualities on the ball is an ideal target for Manchester City. In addition to the Citizens, the Spaniard has also instructed his representatives to get in touch with Juventus over a possible move in the summer.

So, while the identity of his next club maybe unclear, it looks all but certain that Isco will be leaving Real Madrid in the summer transfer window, with Santiago Solari’s comments addressing him during his pre-match press conference ahead of this weekend’s league game against Real Valladolid also painting a damning picture.

“Disciplinary matters are dealt with internally and in private. As for the on-field question, it’s the same as always, there’s no change there and it’s the same in this team and everywhere else. To play you’ve firstly got to be in good shape fitness-wise and then get up to speed in terms of match competitiveness.”

Isco looks set to leave Real Madrid, with Manchester City being his preferred club to join next. It now remains to be seen if the Premier League champions reignite their interest in him, or if some other club ends up swooping him away.
