Real Madrid superstar Toni Kroos is reportedly eager to seal a €100 million transfer to Manchester City in the summer transfer window.

If the report by Spanish outlet Don Balon is to be believed, Toni Kroos is ready to call it quits at Real Madrid after five seasons at the Bernabeu. Manchester City are interested in signing the German playmaker in the summer transfer window, are are ready to shell out €100 million for his services.

Toni Kroos has enjoyed one of the most storied career since first bursting onto the scene at Bayern Munich a decade ago. Since then, he has been a key player for both country at club, first at Bayern then at Real Madrid, and has gone on to win 21 trophies thus far in his illustrious senior career.

At Real Madrid, Kroos has forged a formidable partnership, featuring Luka Modric and Casemiro, that has dominated the midfield battle for a number of years. But, it looks like the 29-year-old is starting to reach stagnation point at the Bernabeu, which could see him depart from the club in the summer.

While a number of clubs have been previously interested in swooping the world-class playmaker away from Real Madrid, Manchester City seem to be leading the race to sign him in the summer transfer window. And, the interest from the Premier League champions does make sense.

While Pep Guardiola has a gamut of midfield options at his disposal, the Manchester City boss has been eager to bolster the department since the summer transfer window. The sole purpose of seeking reinforcements has been to initiate the succession plan for David Silva.

Those plans have been put to rest this season, but Guardiola is believed to be eager to set things right in the summer transfer window, which makes Kroos the perfect player to pursue. Thus, after briefly being linked with the German last summer, it looks like the Premier League champions will launch the offensive for the Real Madrid superstar a year later.

The addition of Kroos could also help mitigate the departure of Bernardo Silva, if it happens, with the Portuguese midfielder coincidentally linked with Real Madrid. Either way, it looks like Manchester City are in the hunt for the German international, who is eager to call time on his stint at Real Madrid in the summer.

The 29-year-old is keen on playing in the Premier League while still at his peak, which ought to hand Manchester City an advantage in his pursuit. Real Madrid president, however, wants to recoup around €100 million in exchange for the player’s services, an amount that is unlikely to faze the Citizens.

City are also ready to make Kroos one of the best paid players in the world to ensure they land him. Real Madrid’s stance though, seems a bit perplexing, seeing as they they ended their pursuit of Christian Eriksen. Nevertheless, it looks like Kroos could be set for a move to Manchester City, and it remains to be seen if he ends up making his way to the Premier League this summer.
