Chelsea have reportedly lodged a £1 million bid for Bristol City youngster Antoine Semenyo, who is also a target for Manchester United.
Antoine Semenyo is a wanted man. While the Bristol City youngster is on the radar of several top-flight clubs, Chelsea have reportedly gone one step further and tabled a £1 million bid for the star, according to Daily Mail. Semenyo is currently impressing on loan at League Two outfit Newport County, with Manchester United interested in the 19-year-old as well.
This is Semenyo’s maiden senior season and he has taken to the rigours of League Two football rather well. The forward’s output though, could be questioned, with the Bristol City star managing just 6 goals and 2 assists in 31 senior appearances for Newport County.
But, his work-rate and potential have really shined through, which has reportedly fallen under the scanner of several top-flight scouts. Manchester United and Chelsea are among a number of clubs tracking Semenyo.
Chelsea have created a reputation for raking in budding youngsters from different regions and helping them develop their skills before pocketing a decent profit. While the entire process has raised many questions, there is little to doubt, speaking from the monetary side of things.
