PSG superstar Kylian Mbappe has refused to rule out a move to Real Madrid, insisting that he is tempted by the prospect of moving to the Bernabeu.
As reported by Spanish publication AS, Kylian Mbappe has finally broken his silence over the prospect of joining Real Madrid sometime in the future. The French forward, who currently plies his trade for PSG, insisted that he is happy at Parc des Princes, before leaving his future open when quizzed about switch to the Bernabeu.
Mbappe has enjoyed a meteoric rise to superstardom, the one enjoyed by a select few players, ever since his breakthrough campaign at AS Monaco in the 2016-17 season. As the principality club won the Ligue 1 title, the then-teenage sensation played a pivotal role in the triumph before joining PSG on loan in the subsequent summer transfer window.
At Parc des Princes, Mbappe has been a resounding success, forging a tremendously fearsome attacking trio with Neymar and Edinson Cavani, making PSG a near-unbeatable force. Still only 20, he is now considered to be among the best players in the world, which has invariably attracted plenty of clubs, including Real Madrid.
Real Madrid are, in fact, believed to hold a long-standing interest in Mbappe, ever since his days at AS Monaco. And, the 20-year-old was believed to be seen as the ideal replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo following his exploits during France’s 2018 FIFA World Cup winning campaign.
But, a barrage of reports had forced Real Madrid to officially deny their interest in the player, although they are still believed to be keen on landing him, and for good reason.
Attack has been one of the weak points for Los Blancos this season, with the inconsistencies of almost every forward pegging them back considerably this season. To that end, Real Madrid have been heavily linked with a number of attacking superstars, although none of the players would be as viable a solution as Mbappe can potentially be.
And, Real Madrid could have received a boost in pursuit of the 20-year-old, who left his future up in the air when quizzed about the temptation to move to the Bernabeu.
“I’m very happy with how things are going for me at Paris Saint Germain, I’m under contract until 2021 and so now’s not the moment to think about anything else. I’m fine here, but in football – and the future, you never know.”
Convincing PSG to sell their prized possession might be a tall order, although looming Financial Fair Play implications might help the reigning UEFA Champions League holders. For now, the fact that Mbappe has left his future open gives Real Madrid some hope in his pursuit, and it remains to be seen if they can land their top target any time soon.
