Transfer News: Alvaro Morata offered to Real Madrid

Real Madrid have reportedly been offered the chance to bring back former striker Alvaro Morata from Chelsea in a potential January deal.

Spanish publication Don Balon are claiming that Chelsea have offered Alvaro Morata to Real Madrid. The striker has been tipped to leave the club and it seems the Blues are ready to facilitate a transfer in January itself, offering his services to his former club in a deal that is likely to be worth not more than €30 million.

Alvaro Morata had a positive start to his career at Chelsea, with a flurry of goals in his first few matches, mostly with his head, a trait he was not really known for. But, in the days that have passed, the Spaniard seems to have not only lost his finesse in front of the goal but also his confidence, missing easy tap-ins.

The constant whiffs are starting to cost Chelsea a lot, especially with Olivier Giroud not really a prolific goalscorer for the club either. It has come to a point where the Blues are having to delve into the market for a striker in January itself, with  the club linked with moves for Gonzalo Higuain and Edinson Cavani.

It is the former that has been tipped to be on the verge of joining Chelsea, which could pave the way for Morata to leave the club. There were talks of a potential Higuain-Morata swap. But, it seems AC Milan are not too keen on getting the Spaniard on a loan deal for the remainder of the season – the stipulated time left on Higuain’s loan contract.

Alvaro Morata has genuinely looked like a man devoid of confidence and perhaps, all he needs is a return to the place where he can get more in touch with how he used to be. Chelsea seem to be ready to aid the cause, with the club offering him to Real Madrid.

The defending European champions are badly in need of inspiration up top, with Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale unable to shoulder the burden that has increased following Cristiano Ronaldo’s summer exit. Mariano Diaz was brought in to no effect.

And while Florentino Perez has his eyes peeled on Harry Kane, the new poster boy for European strikers, the club president might just want to bring in Morata as a sure bet. Morata’s return would also help the club connect more with the fans who were unhappy at Zidane’s continuous preference to start Benzema, even though Morata had a better record with fewer minutes on the pitch.

With the fee unlikely to cross €30 million, this could prove to be a bargain for Real Madrid if Morata is able to reignite the fire that he once showcased at the Bernabeu.
