Transfer News: Bayern Munich meet Chelsea’s asking price for Callum Hudson-Odoi

Bayern Munich have agreed to meet Chelsea’s asking price for Callum Hudson-Odoi by submitting a fresh bid of £35 million.

According to Sky Sports, Bayern Munich have finally agreed to come to terms with Chelsea’s price tag by launching an improved bid of £35 million for the services of Callum Hudson-Odoi.

The English wonderkid has been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge after failing to make a breakthrough this season. However, Chelsea were reluctant to let go of their young sensation for a cheap, eventually convincing Bayern to meet their asking fee of £35 million – the source suggests.

The Bundesliga has already become an attractive place for the English youngsters, of late, with players like Jadon Sancho, Kaylen Hinds, Reece Oxford and Reiss Nelson trying their luck in the German top flight. And Hudson-Odoi, it seems, could become the next young English sensation to join the prestigious league that has emerged as the breeding ground for several young and talented footballers over the past decade or so.

But unlike his compatriots, who are currently plying their trade in the Bundesliga, Hudson-Odoi’s target will be to make himself a first-team regular at Bayern, with Arjen Robben set to leave the club at the end of the season while Franck Ribery’s downfall has been rather evident.

Additionally, Kingsley Coman has had his fair share of troubles with the injuries, with the Frenchman even flirting with the idea of making a premature retirement in the unfortunate case of a recurrence of his ankle problem. Thus, Serge Gnabry would stand as the only reliable option on the flanks, for coach Niko Kovac next season.

Therefore, Hudson-Odoi will be presented with an excellent opportunity to make a breakthrough at one of Europe’s biggest clubs, although it’s only fair to acknowledge Bayern’s reluctance in giving young players the opportunity to shine on the big stage.

Chelsea, on the other hand, have already secured the services of Christian Pulisic earlier this month. The American international has been signed for a whopping fee of £58 million and will join the club at the start of next season. And with Maurizio Sarri flirting with the idea of signing yet another attacker, it is rather unlikely that the Blues will be fazed with the departure of Hudson-Odoi.

In fact, Odoi’s sale to Bayern will allow the Premier League to fund the move for their remaining targets in the ongoing January transfer market as they look to keep up with Liverpool and Manchester City during the second half of the campaign.
