Bayern Munich have emerged as the front-runners to sign Welsh international Aaron Ramsey, amid interest from Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United.

According to an exclusive report from the Express, German champions Bayern Munich are leading the race to sign Arsenal superstar Aaron Ramsey, who is also being chased by the Gunners’ Premier League rivals Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United.

The Wales midfielder has confirmed he will be departing from Arsenal at the end of the season when his contract expires, after the North London outfit pulled out of negotiations over a new contract. It is believed that the Gunners are looking to cut down on their wage bill and as a result have decided to let go of their longest-serving member in the current squad.

This development led to a flurry of interest in the Welshman’s services, with Arsenal’s chief rivals Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool all lining up to sign him on a free transfer next summer, while there have been reports of interest from Italian champions Juventus as well.

Manchester United are believed to be in search of a new addition in the middle of the park with summer signing Fred struggling to make an impact since his big money move from Shakhtar Donetsk. Ander Herrera is in the final year of his contract and could be set to leave, amid interest from former club Athletic Bilbao.

As a result, Manchester United are keen on attempting to lure the Welshman to Old Trafford next summer to bolster their midfield. The Red Devils have been long-term admirers of the 27-year-old, having tried to sign him from Cardiff City a decade ago, before he moved to Arsenal.

Despite recent reports claiming that Liverpool had decided to withdraw their interest in Ramsey, the Reds’ manager Jurgen Klopp is understood to be keeping a close eye on the Welshman’s situation. The Merseysiders want a new central midfielder in their squad, with veteran midfielder James Milner not getting any younger, while Adam Lallana continues to struggle with injuries.

Chelsea were keen on landing Ramsey in the summer transfer window itself and are still believed to be monitoring the 27-year-old. However, with Ross Barkley starting to shine at Stamford Bridge in his second season and Ruben Loftus-Cheek also impressing heavily, the Blues’ boss Maurizio Sarri might decide not to pursue the Arsenal star’s signature.

And now, Bayern Munich too have thrown their hat in the ring for the signing of Ramsey. The German champions haven’t had the best of starts to life under new manager Niko Kovac and are looking to add more quality to their ranks.

The fact that foreign clubs will be able to negotiate with Ramsey starting from January, gives a distinct advantage to the Bavarians over their Premier League competitors, and has put them in the driving seat to clinch his signing at the end of the season.

It is certain that Ramsey will leave Arsenal come summer, but given the number of clubs lining up to sign him, a transfer war seems to be on the cards. With Bayern now joining the chasing pack, the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United have a fight at their hands and it remains to be seen where the Wales international’s future lies.
