Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Cesc Fabregas are likely to come into the starting eleven as Chelsea take on MOL Vidi FC in the UEFA Europa League.
Chelsea will look to gain maximum points from their second UEFA Europa League group stage fixture as MOL Vidi FC, formerly known as Videoton FC, pay a visit to Stamford Bridge. Maurizio Sarri is likely to rotate his side and has hinted at potential changes to the starting eleven.
Kepa Arrizabalaga is likely to retain his spot in goal. But, there should be a few changes in defence. Davide Zappacosta and Emerson Palmieri are expected to come into the lineup for Cesar Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso. Gary Cahill should start as well. But, with Andreas Christensen doubtful, we should see Antonio Rudiger start again.
Ruben Loftus-Cheek will be handed a chance against Vidi as Maurizio Sarri reflected on the unfortunate timing of his injury and the fact that the Englishman will be given a chance to impress.
“I said a couple of weeks ago that the period from the first international break to the second is like my pre-season so I would like to see every player in this period, so maybe tomorrow it is time to see Loftus-Cheek I think. Loftus-Cheek was unlucky in the last three weeks after the match with the international team, he had a problem but in the last five or six days he has been better, he is able to play tomorrow.”
Jorginho should also be rested as Maurizio Sarri iterated in his pre-match conference, that he is impressed by Cesc Fabregas, who has shown he can play a similar role to the Italian playmaker.
“Cesc did very well in the last 30 minutes in Greece and very well for 90 minutes in Liverpool. He has to improve his physical condition of course but he is a great option in this position. Cesc is very good in moving the ball, like Jorginho, more than Jorginho, so we don’t need to change the style of football with Fabregas.”
Ross Barkley is likely to start as the third man in midfield. In attack, Alvaro Morata and Victor Moses are certain starters. But, Callum Hudson-Odoi is a doubt, with Eden Hazard likely to start. Maurizio Sarri will be wary of making too many changes and could retain the Belgian in the starting eleven.
